Today, Darryl M. from Cub Scout Pack 647 attended a special Cub Scouts science workshop at the Detroit Science Center. The workshop taught the boys about the Scientific Method for solving problems through the use of experimentation. The class helps the boys complete the requirements for the Cub Scout Science Belt Loop.
The steps of the scientific method are to:
<>Ask a Question
<>Do Background Research
<>Construct a Hypothesis
<>Test Your Hypothesis by Doing an Experiment
<>Analyze Your Data and Draw a Conclusion
<>Communicate Your Results
Their first experiment was to see what weighed more: water, oil, baking soda, or vinegar. After a snack break and a tour of the science center, they experimented to see what kinds of matter are attracted to magnets. And to end the day, they worked with a scientist to make play-dough from glue and water.
At the end of the workshop, each scout was awarded a special Detroit Science Center patch and the Cub Scouts Science belt loop.
